Knitting Yarn Skeins are viscose fibers. Synthetic cotton is a common name for cotton staple fibers. The main variety is cotton-type viscose staple fiber, which is spun from natural high molecular compounds such as cellulose or protein after chemical processing. Its specifications are similar to those of cotton fibers. The length is generally 35mm. Fineness is 1.5-2.2 degrees. It can be spun purely on cotton spinning machines, or blended with cotton or cotton-type synthetic fibers (such as polyester, nylon, etc.).
Both cotton and rayon are cellulose, which has the same composition as starch, but the difference is that the molecular weight is larger. Artificial fibers are made by dissolving cellulose in a solvent and then squirting it out of a very thin nozzle to form a filament similar to spider silk. So burning is indistinguishable, mostly by feeling. Rayon should be smoother.
In a broad sense, rayon includes not only cellulose but also many other chemical fibers.
